The Federation Francaise De Bridge hosted the first Open Youth (under 26) Bridge Teams Competiton in Paris earlier this month. 26 countries competed from around the world. Ireland finished in 16th place which while not stunning, was respectable. However the better news is that in the butlers (essentially a scoring system which assesses the performance of individual pairs in a teams competition) David Synnott and his partner Hugh Gormally came out on top. Click here to see an extract from the official bulletin of the competition. The same pair were also in action as part of the victorious Leinster team in last weekends IBU Inter-provencial competition. Congratulations to both.
